Ear Candles By Choice - Instructions
What are Ear Candles?
Ear Candles By Choice are a long, hollow tubes of pure unbleached cotton muslin coated with beeswax. The candles are made with only the finest bees wax available. The manufacturer does not accept wax that is not completely processed for purity and colour. Nor do they use paraffin. Paraffin is a petroleum based product and we strive to have as natural a product as possible.
The way Ear Candles work!
The spiral of the cone causes the smoke to be pulled down in to the ear canal. This causes the ear canal to warm up and loosen the wax and any other material. As it heats it up the candle causes a suction by creating a vacuum in the ear canal. Air is drawn up from the Eustachian tube into the middle ear then through the porous membrane out into the outer ear. The heat and the vacuum draw out the wax and other materials from the ear canal into the base of the candle. As it burns down you may hear a lot of cracking and hissing which is the process of removing the debris. The warmth feels soothing and relaxing during the process.
Ear Candling Instructions...
Have a bowl of water close at hand, scissors, matches or lighter, a toothpick or similar and a paper or foil plate. Ensure the patient in a comfortable position on their side. Cut a small hole in the paper or foil plate. Insert the candle through the hole in the plate and light the large end of the candle. Place the small end gently in the ear canal. If smoke escapes reposition the candle.
During the process hold the candle at a slight angle [at least 20 degree]. After a few minutes, remove the candle from the ear, trim the burning end into the bowl of water and clean out the tip with a toothpick or similar taping any debris into the bowl of water. Light the ear candle and repeat this every three minutes or so.
Let the candle burn down too no less than 7cm (3 inches) from the end, extinguish the burning end into the bowl of water. Repeat other side with remaining candle.
It is helpful to look at the remains of the wax (in an attempt to establish the frequency of additional treatments required), which can be both a combination of light coloured wax from the candle and a deeper orange/brownish colour, which is the ear wax itself. Sometimes you will get no ear wax and sometimes you get big lumps. From our experience you should continue to use candles when concerns still exist, even when there are no obvious signs of wax being removed, as it can take a number of treatments to remove stubborn deposits.
In stubborn cases it can help to use garlic oil capsules squeezed into ear canal over night to soften the ear wax. Use cotton wool to help keep the garlic oil in the ear canal. It is also a good idea to have a hot shower in the morning to help wash out the oil and warm the wax/oil/ear prior to the candling process, which should commence shortly thereafter.
Disclaimer
This is not a medical device. No express claims are made as to the effectiveness of this product. Do not use ear candles if you have a perforated ear drum or tubes in your ears. User assumes all liabilities. A small amount of ash may fall from the candle during the process, this will be negligible and should not be of concern. Always keep the flame end up and tip down. You are using an open flame, so always be cautious and use common sense at all times.
